About Rainbows
Once upon a time 'Rainbow Cafe' operated as a sweet shop called 'Rainbows' quite a few years later Karen and Gavin Rose purchased what was then called 'Wick Lane Stores' they then decided to convert the premises to a cafe/restaurant and call it 'Rainbow Cafe', a nod to the sweet shop from their childhood days.
'Rainbow Cafe and Restaurant' in Dovercourt, North Essex has now been operating successfully since Spring 2015 by business partners Karen Rose, Allyson Kirk and Gavin Rose.
Over the years Karen's family have owned and managed local pubs and hotels in the Dovercourt area, including the 'Queens Hotel' and the 'Victoria Hotel'. Karen went on to successfully own and run the 'The Royal Oak' public house with her husband Gavin, and then subsequently she became the Manager of the 'Tower Hotel' in Dovercourt with great success.
Allyson's parents owned and managed the 'Blue Door Restaurant' in Dovercourt in the swinging 60's. She followed in their footsteps working at the 'Royal Oak' pub during the 90's with Karen, Allyson then later worked for 'Samuel Pepys Wine Bar' and 'The Crown Post Restaurant' both in Harwich, she then went to 'Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club' where she was to be Catering Manager for many years.
Karen and Allyson along with their great team, have simple aims, to provide good quality wholesome food, cooked to a high standard and to provide first class service with a smile, every time.
Dovercourt was and is a great place to visit

“Lot's of people have recommended this place to me and I was not disappointed. It's a clean busy cafe, not too noisy, not too cramped. There is plenty of variety including several options for vegetarians. I over ordered as prices were so cheap I was expecting smaller portions. I don't normally eat out for lunch but I will be changing my habits.”
